Maranda Byrn - "David"
Maranda Byrn is a local, Phoenix artist just starting her art career.
"I work primarily as a printmaker but I also dabble in watercolor and illustration. 'David' comes from a scene in the movie 'American Werewolf in London' in which the main character is having nightmares about his transformation into a horrifying creature. To me this scene represents fear of the worst parts of ourselves and maybe even the desire to let the dark side out. Just a little bit. Most of my work is focused on plants and animals, so this was really a chance to channel that side into something terrifying."
Medium used: Linocut Printmaking (2 block, 2 color).
Design is printed in-house on a matte, textured paper (Velvet Fine Art) with a 1/4" border for the 4x6's and 1/2" border for the 8x12's. Maranda also sells original, hand-made prints on her website. Digital editions are available on Radnaut.com only for the duration on the exhibition.
